Thailand
Thailand is known as the “Land of Smiles,” celebrated for its breathtaking landscapes and rich cultural diversity. Yet in the remote northwestern highlands, ethnic minority communities such as the Karen people have long lived under the shadow of poverty and limited resources. Children lack access to stable education, elders struggle to obtain basic healthcare, and families rely on traditional subsistence farming with meager incomes, leaving their lives filled with uncertainty.
Their hardship is not due to a lack of effort, but rather the challenges of geographic isolation, inadequate infrastructure, and scarce educational and medical resources, which make it difficult to break free from the cycle of poverty.
Since 2024, Happy Tree Social Services has stepped into northwestern Thailand to carry out poverty alleviation work, joining hands with local residents to build a future filled with hope.
